Product Details

WoolAid mouth tape is designed to gently encourage nasal breathing during sleep by keeping your mouth closed. It is made from breathable medical grade merino wool with a gentle adhesive, providing a natural, comfortable alternative to synthetic mouth tapes.

Mouth taping has gained popularity as a simple technique to promote nasal breathing overnight. Because WoolAid mouth tape is made from merino wool rather than plastic or synthetic fabric, it breathes with your skin and does not trap heat, bacteria or moisture against the sensitive skin around your lips and mouth. 30 per pack.

WHAT MOUTH TAPE DOES

Your nose is the body’s primary breathing organ. Nasal breathing filters, warms and humidifies the air before it reaches your lungs, making oxygen absorption more efficient. Breathing through the nose also supports the production of nitric oxide, a molecule that helps improve blood circulation, supports immune defence and enhances oxygen delivery throughout the body.

Mouth breathing during sleep, by contrast, can lead to dry mouth, disrupted sleep, increased snoring, poor oral health including a higher risk of cavities and gum disease, and waking up feeling unrefreshed. Mouth taping gently encourages the lips to stay closed, cueing the body to breathe through the nose rather than defaulting to mouth breathing.

Research has shown that participants who used mouth tape experienced reduced snoring intensity and frequency, improved sleep quality and less morning dry mouth. Athletes and fitness professionals have also adopted nasal breathing techniques, including mouth taping, to improve oxygen efficiency, lower heart rate during exertion and support faster recovery.

Most mouth tapes use synthetic fabrics designed to create a tight seal across your mouth. We take a different approach. Our medical-grade merino wool backing is naturally breathable, so rather than sealing bacteria and moisture against your skin overnight, WoolAid allows airflow while still encouraging nasal breathing. It's a natural on lip fit, not a synthetic bacterial seal.

We're continuing to develop our mouth tape to improve conformability using natural materials, because we believe what you put on your face matters just as much as how it fits.

How To Apply

Apply WoolAid mouth tape to clean, dry lips before bed. Press gently across your lips and smooth into place.

  • Wash and dry your face, paying particular attention to the area around your lips and chin. The adhesive will not hold properly on oily, moisturised or damp skin.
  • Wash your hands before handling the tape.
  • Remove the tape from its backing.
  • With your mouth gently closed, place the tape vertically or horizontally across your lips, depending on the product design. Press gently to secure. The tape should feel comfortable and not overly restrictive. You should be able to part your lips slightly or breathe through the sides if needed. Breathe normally through your nose.
How To Remove

In the morning, gently peel the tape away from your skin. If it feels firmly adhered, dampen the area with warm water or use a warm, damp cloth to loosen the adhesive before removing. Do not rip the tape off quickly, as the skin around the lips and mouth is delicate.

WoolAid mouth tape is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or medical condition. It is not a treatment for sleep apnoea, snoring disorders or any sleep disorder without the direction of a medical professional. If you suspect you have sleep apnoea or any other sleep breathing disorder, consult your doctor before using mouth tape.

Discontinue use immediately if you experience difficulty breathing, skin irritation, anxiety or discomfort. If the tape continues to fall off regularly, consult a healthcare professional such as an ENT specialist, as this may indicate an underlying nasal obstruction that should be assessed.

Take care when removing the tape to avoid irritation or damage to the skin. Adhesive performance may be affected by facial oils, creams, moisture or facial hair.

Each WoolAid mouth tape is for single use only. Dispose of after each use. Always read the label and follow the directions for use.

Breathable

Merino absorbs up to 35% of its weight in moisture before feeling wet, then releases it. No trapped heat. No clammy buildup. The skin underneath stays dry and comfortable.

Comfortable

At 17–19 microns, our superfine merino is one-third the diameter of a human hair. It flexes on contact instead of prickling. Research confirms it's fibre diameter that determines comfort, not fibre type. This is finer than most performance base layers.

Odour Resistant

Independent testing shows merino generates significantly less odour than cotton, polyester and acrylic. It wicks moisture away from skin, starving bacteria of the damp conditions they need.
